# Privacy Policy

**Last updated: 28/07/2026

Port Stephens Unplugged (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and store it, and the choices you have.

We handle personal information in accordance with the *Privacy Act 1988* (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

**Who we are:** [Unplugged Movement Ltd”]
**ABN/ACN:** [30 699 275 833 / 699 275 833]
**Website:** https://unplugged.org.au

## 1. What information we collect

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our activities.

**Information you give us directly:**

– **Contact enquiries** — your name, email address, and anything else you include when you contact us.
– **Newsletter subscription** — your name and email address.
– **Shop orders** — your name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number, and order details.
– **Sponsors and supporters** — contact and organisation details provided when you register interest.

**Information collected automatically:**

– **Technical data** — your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit. This is standard web server and security logging.
– **Cookies** — small files stored on your device. See section 6.

**Payment information:** We do **not** store your full credit or debit card details. Payments are processed by Stripe, who handle your card information directly under their own privacy terms.

## 2. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

– respond to your enquiries;
– process, fulfil and deliver your orders, and handle returns or refunds;
– send you our newsletter and campaign updates, where you have asked to receive them;
– maintain, secure and improve our website;
– meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.

We do **not** sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it to third parties for their marketing.

## 3. Marketing and how to opt out

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we may send you campaign updates and news. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by using it or by emailing us at [email protected]. We will action your request promptly.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop necessary transactional messages, such as order confirmations.

## 4. Who we share information with

We share personal information only where necessary, and only with:

– **Service providers who help us operate** — our website host, email delivery service (Mailchimp), payment provider (Stripe), and delivery/postal services for shop orders.
– **Professional advisers** — such as accountants or lawyers, where required.
– **Law enforcement or regulators** — where we are required or authorised by law.

We require our service providers to protect your information and to use it only for the purpose we engaged them for.

## 5. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia.

Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

## 6. Cookies

Our website uses cookies to:

– keep your shopping cart working and remember items you have added;
– keep you signed in where relevant;
– support website security and performance.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies may stop parts of the site — particularly the shop — from working properly.

## 7. Children’s privacy

Our campaign is about children, but our website is intended for use by **parents, carers and adults**, not by children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Where information about a child is provided to us— it is provided by a parent or carer, and we use it only for understanding the age groups our campaign reaches and report it only in aggregate.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without a parent’s or carer’s involvement, please contact us and we will delete it.

## 8. Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site, restricted access to our systems, and reputable hosting and payment providers.

No method of transmitting or storing data is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

## 9. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as long as the law requires — for example, business and tax records relating to shop orders. When it is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

## 10. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us to:

– give you access to the personal information we hold about you;
– correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete;
– delete it, where we are not required to keep it.

Contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable period. We may need to verify your identity first. If we refuse a request, we will explain why in writing.

## 11. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at [email protected] so we can try to resolve it. We will acknowledge your complaint and respond within a reasonable period.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):

– Website: [oaic.gov.au](https://www.oaic.gov.au)
– Phone: 1300 363 992
– Post: GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001

## 12. Changes to this policy
